You'll need a receipt (obtainable from craigslist), a picture of the macbook box with the serial showing (get from the same guy you got the receipt from on craigslist), a new email (from elude.in), and a Google Voice or VOIP number you can answer (i use textnow).

Also make sure the box in the picture is sealed.

We will now give Apple a call. Just say the product is not turning on and you want to have it sent in for repair. Apple will give you two options:

1. Advanced Replacement (apple will offer to send you the macbook as long as they can hold the amount of the mac off your credit card until you send it back). Let it get sent, and they will send you the Mac. Then call and say that the box they sent was empty. They will refund the money and you can keep the Mac.

2. Box method. This is simple. They'll send you a box. Open it up and empty it. Use the tape that comes WITH the box to seal it back. Cut the tape open and use a different tape to tape over it. Now FedEx and Apple think someone resealed it during shipping.

Now Apple will notify you of the empty box, and tell you they'll have results of their investigation in 5 days. Apple will request a proof of purchase the next day. Send them the receipt and the back of the macbook box off craigslist.

On the 5th day they'll tell you they will replace the Mac. They will now send you the Mac.

Additional Notes: It has to be a sealed MacBook because if it isn't, Apple will call the previous owner asking if they sold their MacBook.
